| Yes, the amps can go bad or the speakers wear out too. But it's a common misunderstanding that the headunit is made by Bose and Bose ends up getting blamed for it. Also, for those that prefer to keep their Bose system (besides the head unit) intact. You can get the amps refurbished. However, the system was designed nearly 20 years ago so keep this in perspective with regard to the system performance compared to aftermarket and factory systems currently available today. Remember that speaker enclosures were not an everyday sight in car audio systems and the Bose system in the Z utilized this concept for all of the speakers in our cars. Also, bass boxes were virtually unheard of in cars 15 years ago....so the lack of bottom end performance is understandable (although the Bose enclosures in the Z were designed to perform down to 40Hz which wasn't bad at the time).
